Market Watch (Şeker Yatırım)

The BIST100 Index started Thursday on a positive trend and maintained its positive momentum throughout trading to close 1.75% higher at 9,741.07. The Industrial Index rose by 1.51% and the Banking Index gained 0.66%. As political news flow slowed, reaction purchases continued in response to the sharp pullback at the BIST. On the global front, Nvidia’s earnings report and President Trump’s new tariff announcements weighed on risk appetite. Trump stated that the 25% tariffs on Canada and Mexico would take effect on March 4, and announced an additional 10% tariff on Chinese imports. Yesterday, European stock markets declined except for the U.K., while the U.S. markets closed with losses of up to 2.8%. This morning, the U.S. futures are mixed, while the German DAX futures and Asian markets are trading in negative territory. Today, the U.S. Core PCE Index, the Fed’s preferred inflation gauge, will be closely watched. The data is expected to indicate a 2.6% YoY increase, which could impact risk sentiment. Domestically, Turkey’s 4Q24 GDP data will be released today. The market consensus points to 2.8% YoY growth in the last quarter, while we expect 3.1% growth. Meanwhile, the VIOP30 Index closed the evening session 0.06% lower. Locally, we expect a flat opening for the BIST100 Index today, followed by volatile trading thereafter. SUPPORT: 9,650 - 9,550 RESISTANCE: 9,850 - 9,950.
