Outlook:
The BIST100 Index started Friday on a negative trend, maintained its weak course throughout the day and closed at 9,658.72, down 0.85%. The Industrial Index fell 0.26% and the Banking Index lost 0.33%. On a weekly basis, the BIST100 gained 0.59% and the Industrial Index rose 0.20%, while the Banking Index diverged positively, up 3.72%. Last week, political developments in the domestic and global environment held sway at the BIST. While banking stocks diverged positively on expectations that interest rate cuts would continue, divergences persisted in industrial stocks amid the ongoing 4Q24 results season. On the macroeconomic front this week, February inflation data is out today, with the CBRT's interest rate decision out on Thursday. Political developments remain of relevance, too. Globally, core PCE data which the Fed views as an inflation indicator printed a rise of 0.3% monthly and 2.6% annually on Friday. This was in line with expectations and marked the lowest level of the past six months. Following the data, risk appetite rose and the U.S. stock markets closed with increases of up to 1.6%. European stock markets also closed the day with an increase. Trump's moves will remain scrutinized in global markets. There was controversy at Friday's Trump-Zelensky meeting at the White House and related developments will be closely followed by the markets. Today, on the international macroeconomic side Eurozone CPI and manufacturing PMI data in the Eurozone and the USA will be followed. Domestically, inflation data for February is out. The market expectation is that CPI will rise by 3% monthly and 40.04% annually in February. We expect monthly inflation of 2.85% and annual inflation of 39.8% in February. The VIOP30 Index closed down 0.03% on Friday. Locally, we expect the Benchmark Index to see a positive start to the day, and seek to rise if intraday profit sales are met. SUPPORT: 9,500 - 9,400 RESISTANCE: 9,750 - 9,850.
