Outlook:
The BIST100, which followed a weak course throughout Thursday, closed with a 0.5% decrease at 9,810.94, despite having started with reaction purchases. While the Industrial Index rose by 1.50% the Banking Index diverged negatively, falling 8.18%. Following recent domestic market volatility amid investigation news, the CBRT held an interim meeting and increased the overnight lending rate by 200bps to 46%. The policy rate was kept constant at 42.5%, while the overnight borrowing rate was held steady at 41%. It was announced that 1-week repo auctions were temporarily suspended. It was also stated that measures were taken for TL and FX liquidity to limit market volatility, and that additional measures would be taken if necessary. We believe that the Central Bank's decisions aimed at increasing confidence in the markets and reducing volatility could be effective. On the global side, the Bank of England meeting was followed yesterday. The Bank kept the interest rate constant at 4.50%. The decision text stated that a gradual and careful approach would be appropriate. With risk appetite remaining weak over tariff concerns, US and European stock markets closed yesterday with declines. This morning US futures and German DAX futures are selling, while Asian stock markets are mixed. Domestically, the VIOP30 Index closed the evening session down 0.59%. We expect the Benchmark Index to start Friday on a horizontal course and follow a fluctuating one thereafter.
