Market Watch (Şeker Yatırım)

The BIST100 Index started Thursday with a strong rise amid widespread purchases. The benchmark index closed the day at 9,338.58, up 0.68%, despite profit sales towards the end of the session. While the Industrial Index gained 1.21% the Banking Index diverged negatively, down 0.50%. Developments regarding the tariffs applied by the U.S. are being followed in global markets which the BIST continues to move in parallel with. In global markets, risk appetite strengthened after Trump announced yesterday that tariffs would not be applied for countries other than China for 90 days. Asian stock markets closed with increases of up to 9% and European bourses with increases of up to 5% yesterday. The profit sales that had begun in U.S. futures continued during U.S. trading. The White House announcing that the 125% tariff rate imposed on China was in addition to the 20% tariff announced at the start of the year, whereby the tariff rate to be applied to China had actually increased to 145%, saw sales of up to 4.3% recorded in the indices. In addition, CPI data in the U.S. yesterday printed at 2.4% on an annual basis, below the 2.5% expectation, and at the lowest level of the past six months. Yet, the impact of the data was limited as markets focused on tariff announcements. This morning, the U.S. futures and German DAX futures are up, while Asian stock markets are mixed. We expect the statements on tariffs and possible retaliation to continue guiding risk appetite. U.S. PPI data is out today. The VIOP30 Index closed the evening session up 0.19%. Locally, we expect the Benchmark Index to start Friday on a negative trend with a volatile course to follow. SUPPORT: 9,200 - 9,000 RESISTANCE: 9,400 - 9,600.
