Outlook:
The BIST100 Index started Monday on a positive trend, weakened in the afternoon but closed the day at 9,423.62, up 0.45%. The Industrial Index rose by 1.46% while the Banking Index fell 0.07%. Although volatility decreased at the BIST amid calm news flow, the general outlook remains weak. Domestic markets are focused on this week's CBRT's interest rate decision, but global risk appetite will continue to influence the BIST. On the global side news that the U.S. will temporarily exempt semiconductor imports from tariffs supported risk appetite yesterday. The U.S., European and Asian stock markets closed Monday with increases. According to news this morning, President Trump is investigating possible temporary exemptions from customs duties on imported vehicles and parts. This morning, the U.S. futures are negative, while German DAX futures and Asian stock markets excluding China are positive. Developments regarding tariffs will remain closely scrutinized. The VIOP30 Index closed the evening session up 0.09%. Locally, we expect the Benchmark Index to start Tuesday flat and then seek to rise if intraday sales are encountered.
