Outlook:
The BIST 100 Index started Wednesday with a flat trend and followed an upward fluctuating trend throughout the day, closing at 9,686.11, up 0.28%. While the Banking Index fell by 0.18%, the Industrial Index recorded a 0.26% increase. After inflation data came in below expectations the uptrend at the BIST continued, with the cumulative gain over the past five trading sessions reaching 7.52%. On the global front, risk appetite was generally negative yesterday. Despite the U.S. reaching a tariff agreement with China and the May CPI data in the U.S. printing better than expected, U.S. stock markets ended the day lower. Except for the UK, European markets also closed in negative territory. President Trump announced plans to send letters of agreement to countries containing tariff rates within two weeks. In addition, the US announced that it is preparing to evacuate some of its personnel in the Middle East due to mounting security risks, and rising geopolitical risk has negatively affected the markets. This morning, U.S. and German DAX futures are trading negatively, while Asian stock markets show a mixed outlook. The VIOP-30 Index ended the evening session with a 0.97% decline. In terms of data flow today, domestic markets will focus on industrial production data for April, while international markets will be watching the U.S. PPI data for May. We expect the BIST 100 Index to start Thursday with a selling trend in line with global markets, and follow a volatile course thereafter.
