Outlook:
The BIST 100 Index started Thursday on a positive trend following the CBRT decision, encountered profit-taking during the rises, but maintained its positive outlook, closing the day 10,689.05, up 0.92%. The Industrial Index gained 1.0%, and the Banking Index climbed 1.12%. The CBRT’s MPC lowered the policy rate by 300 bps, exceeding market expectations, to 43%. While market expectations were for a 250 bps cut, ours was for a 350 bps rate cut. The CBRT, throughout its decision text, maintained a hawkish tone, asserting that the tight stance would continue. While the CBRT's resumption of the interest rate cut cycle had a positive impact on the markets, its statements that the tight stance would be maintained decisively until price stability was achieved limited the effect. Globally, stock markets closed the day with mixed results. While the ECB held interest rates steady, in line with expectations, European stock markets, except for France, closed higher. The U.S. stock markets closed the day mixed. This morning, the U.S. futures were positive, while German DAX futures were flat and Asian stock markets were generally negative. The VIOP-30 Index closed the evening session negatively, falling 0.11%. Today, markets await the announcements of international credit rating agencies Moody's and Fitch regarding Turkey's credit rating outlook review, expected after markets close. While the main market expectation is that Moody's and Fitch will make no changes to the credit rating or outlook, a potential rating upgrade, an improvement in the outlook, or positive messages could create positive market sentiment. On the macroeconomic front, domestic capacity utilization and real sector confidence will be monitored, while international durable goods orders data is also awaited. Locally, we expect the Benchmark Index to start Friday positively and attempt to maintain its uptrend if it offsets expected profit-taking later in the day.
